On Friday 18 November, Te Rito:Restoration of Whanau Forum held it's First Hui forum for parents and organizations who attended at Botany Downs 'Showcase Meeting Room" supported by Marama Davidson MP, Peeni Henare MP & Jan Logie MP.
The Hui provided the opportunity for Maori and non-Maori who attended to recapture and regroup as a body of parents and parties with interests in restoring the value of integrity and passion of principle where the devalued and debased capacity of Maori as a people and a cross section social economic demographic of non-Maori parents of society is no longer tolerable, acceptable or admissible in a civilized, modern and functioning society of modern day Aotearoa.
The Member for the Labour Party who attended in support, Peeni Henare, took us through whaikorero to the principles of whanau as we as Maori know it to be and mean of "te rito" - the nurturing, protection and sustainable organism of society whanau (nuclear and extended) are for the children of its unit that resonates in the same philosophies of Tau Huirama(practitioner specialising in organisational development, specialist supervision, coaching, cultural mentoring,) that:
'where there may be dysfunction in whanau or members dsyfunctional in performing their duties or obligations as parents, not all members of a whanau are dysfunctional'.
Te Rito:Restoration of Whanau is the centre of these principles, philosophies and life choices we choose to live for our tamariki and supporting those for whom its principles are needed to succour in so doing for them.
Marama Davidson and Jan Logie of the Green Party were our women representatives of the House who attended us with empathetic ears to the travesty of injustice, discrimination and detrimental heartbreak, hardship and dishonour undertakings with Child, Youth and Family often are for mothers, fathers, whanau members and members of extended families of minorities of class and race. All of the disclosures heartbreaking yet encouraging for providing the release isolation can cause its families.
We look forward to our next one in 2017 to celebrate the progression of our issues with the current VCA 2014 and the unequitable treatment of parents, families and members of our society, Nga mihi, Raewyn Kapa, Te Rito:Restoration of Whanau - Whanau Restoration Hui Convenor 2016.
